On August 16, 2024, the first meeting between the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the new leadership of Nazarbayev University took place at the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University. The purpose of the event was to discuss prospects for further scientific collaboration between the two leading scientific and educational institutions of the country.
Nazarbayev University was represented by its President, Professor Waqar Ahmad, Vice President Assel Uvaliyeva, and other key officials. The National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was represented by its President, Academician Akhylbek Kurishbayev, Vice President Lyazzat Yeraliyeva , and heads of various structural divisions.
During the meeting, the parties discussed potential areas for scientific cooperation, with particular attention given to joint research initiatives, scientific and technical collaboration, and the exchange of knowledge and experience between scientists from both organizations.
Founded in 2010, Nazarbayev University is Kazakhstan’s leading research university. The university is renowned for its autonomy and high level of academic freedom, which allows it to attract top faculty and students not only from Kazakhstan but from around the world.
Following the meeting, both sides expressed their willingness to continue the dialogue and develop concrete proposals for collaboration aimed at advancing science and technology in the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event concluded with a photo session and the exchange of symbolic gifts.
