On August 19, 2024, in Dushanbe, the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tajikistan held a conference as part of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Tajikistan on August 22, 2024.
The conference was attended by the leadership of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, academicians and directors of research institutes, scientists, and representatives of the creative intelligentsia.
The aim of the conference was to further strengthen interstate cooperation in the field of science, unite the scientific potential of scientists from Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, and discuss issues of coordinating scientific research on a unified platform.
Particular attention was paid at the conference to establishing direct contacts between experts and organizing bilateral meetings.
During the conference, the following issues were discussed:
- Analysis and identification of priority areas for joint scientific research;
- Support for more effective integration of scientific research;
- Assistance in the creation and implementation of new scientific projects;
- Promotion of the dissemination of experience in science reforms in Central Asian countries to improve the quality of scientific personnel training;
- Determination of priority areas for the development of fundamental and applied scientific research and the development of measures to implement their results in specific sectors of the economy;
- Exchange of views on the dissemination of experience in reforming the science sector in the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan, and identification of ways to improve the quality of scientific personnel training.
Following the event, the academies of sciences of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan signed a number of joint agreements:
- Reaching a joint agreement on priority areas of scientific research;
- Coordination of joint research projects by the Academies of Sciences of Central Asian countries;
- Agreement on the organization and conduct of joint scientific expeditions;
- Agreement on cooperation between institutes and scientific centers of the two countries.
After the conference, the President of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, A. Kurishbayev, visited the Central Asian Research Center for Ecology and Environmental Protection, the Institute of Geology, Seismology, and Earthquake Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan in Dushanbe. During the visit, an agreement was signed to develop joint projects, and flowers were laid at the monument to Kanysh Satbayev, the founder of the Kazakh Academy of Sciences.
