On June 18, 2025, an official meeting was held at the “Gylym Ordasy” building in Almaty between the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the delegation of the Binzhou Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine Academy of Shandong Province. The visit became an important stage in reinforcing bilateral scientific dialogue and technological exchange in the fields of veterinary science, biosafety, and livestock development.
The Chinese delegation was headed by Professor Zhang Bin, a well-known expert in international scientific cooperation. During the meeting, he introduced several initiatives, including the opening of a branch of the Academy in Kazakhstan, the establishment of a Kazakhstan–China joint laboratory on zoonotic diseases, and the development of an international trade and economic cooperation platform in the fields of veterinary pharmaceuticals, agricultural machinery, and animal feed. Other proposed areas included the joint development of disease prevention technologies for animals, scientific personnel training, preparation of scientific projects, conducting joint research, and implementing exchange programs.
The Kazakh side was represented by academicians and staff of the National Academy of Sciences, as well as heads and scientists from the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University, al-Farabi Kazakh National University, the Research Institute for Biological Safety Problems, the Kazakh Research Institute of Veterinary Science, the Center for Microbiology and Virology, the Institute of Genetics and Physiology, the Kazakh Research Institute of Livestock and Feed Production, and the “Antigen” Scientific and Production Enterprise. All parties confirmed their readiness to proceed to the practical implementation of proposals and expressed interest in deepening cooperation.
Founded in 1963, the Binzhou Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine Academy is one of the leading applied scientific institutions in Shandong Province. The Academy includes international laboratories, a postdoctoral research station, and recognized scientific platforms in vaccinology, zoonosis control, and digital veterinary solutions. Under Professor Zhang Bin’s scientific leadership, more than 30 national and provincial projects have been implemented, dozens of international experts have been involved, and partnerships have been established with scientific organizations from Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, Japan, and Kazakhstan.
This meeting showcased the high potential of scientific partnership between Kazakhstan and China and a shared commitment to developing joint innovative solutions aimed at ensuring food security, combating cross-border infections, and fostering sustainable agriculture in Central Asia.
