Election of Academicians

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in accordance with the Order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 30, 2022, No. 223 «On Approval of the Rules and Criteria for the Election of Academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan» (hereinafter referred to as the Rules), announces a competition for the election of academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the fields of «Natural Sciences,» «Engineering and Technologies,» and «Medicine and Healthcare» on the terms and conditions established by the annexes to this announcement.

The deadline for accepting documents, prepared in accordance with the requirements of the above-mentioned Rules, shall be calculated from the next working day after the publication of this announcement and shall be 15 (fifteen) working days.

Candidates for election as academicians of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan must meet the following requirements:

1) Citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

2) Absence of convictions;

3) Possession of an academic degree (Candidate of Sciences, Doctor of Sciences, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Doctor in the relevant field) and academic title recognized in accordance with the Rules for the Recognition of Education Documents approved by the Order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 12, 2023, No. 268 (registered in the Register of Regulatory Legal Acts under No. 32800), (Associate Professor (Assistant Professor), Professor);

4) Work experience of at least 10 (ten) years in a scientific organization or an organization of higher and (or) postgraduate education accredited for scientific and (or) scientific and technical activities, where the candidate is a staff member;

5) Presence of at least 9 (nine) publications in the last 10 (ten) years published in peer-reviewed scientific journals (falling within the 1st (first) and 2nd (second) quartiles according to the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) by Clarivate Analytics or having a percentile indicator by Cite Score in the Scopus database of not less than 50 (fifty), except for social humanitarian directions in the field of national identity and directions related to national security and defense;

6) For social humanitarian directions in the field of national identity, the presence of at least 9 (nine) publications in the last 5 (five) years published in journals from the list of publications presented by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the publication of the main results of scientific activities and (or) in scientific journals indexed in Scopus/Web of Science databases;

7) For directions related to national security and defense, the presence of at least 9 (nine) publications in the last 5 (five) years in journals from the list of publications presented by the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This competition is announced for vacant positions in the following departments of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan:

Department of Earth, Space, and Communications Sciences (in the fields of «Natural Sciences,» «Engineering and Technologies») — 4 units;
Department of Life and Health Sciences (in the field of «Medicine and Healthcare») — 2 units.

Note: The mentioned directions are provided in accordance with the Classifier of Scientific Directions approved by the Order of the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated August 5, 2021, No. 386.

Documents prepared in accordance with the requirements of the aforementioned Rules and the list of which is indicated in Appendix 1, are accepted at the actual location of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Almaty, K.
